The Mitsubishi Electric MR-J2S was introduced in 1999 as a highly flexible servo offering designed to fit a wide range of applications with the introduction of industry leading technology. The MR-J4 family of servo drives embodies the innovative spirit of the MR-J2S and leverages cutting edge technology providing users with a renewed competitive advantage.
Multiple key components utilized in the MR-J2S/MR-J2M design are no longer readily available. Mitsubishi has stockpiled many critical components and redesigned where possible, however these measures are not sustainable as part availability continues to diminish. Mitsubishi Electric is committed to conduct its business globally in an environmentally responsible manner. The European Union has enacted the Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) Directive which has global influence for all electrical and electronic equipment manufacturers. The RoHS directive has evolved throughout the years, placing stricter limitations on the levels of toxic materials such as lead, cadmium and other substances that can be used in electronic devices. Adhering to these restrictions requires periodical redesigns that are no longer sustainable.
The final production run of J2S was in August 2014 and final orders for J2S servo system are scheduled for August 2015.
A transition program to the J4 servo system is available to minimize the difficultly of implementing the new products into the older machines.
