In the past, many simple applications in a factory automation setting required a pneumatic solution, or adapting something that didn’t quite fit the task at hand. But with Festo’s EPCO electric cylinder, those less intensive jobs now have simpler solutions.
The EPCO is a mechanical linear drive with a piston rod and optimally-matched motor. Its drive component is made up of an electrically-actuated spindle that converts the motor’s rotary motion to the linear motion of the piston rod.
The EPCO comes with two different operating modes: ServoLite, with an encoder on the motor; and cost-optimized, which lacks the encoder. It also has four different available directions for the motor connections, giving you options in how you install it – and versatility in how the EPCO electric cylinder can be used in your system.
All in all, simplicity is the name of the game with the EPCO – it’s fast to select, and easy to commission with WebConfig and WebDiag compatibility. It has minimal complexity, and offers optimized performance at a low cost. With versatility and ease of use, the EPCO can solve a lot of headaches in your shop.
